The Great Plains Laborers District Council (GPLDC) is the cornerstone of labor representation for construction and maintenance workers across the vast Great Plains region. Our district council is a subsidiary of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA), representing a proud brotherhood and sisterhood of skilled laborers who contribute tirelessly to serve our communities and build our nations infrastructures.
Our mission is to champion the rights of our members by securing optimum wages, benefits, and working conditions. The GPLDC is committed to upholding the dignity and quality of the labor force, ensuring that all our members receive the respect, training, and opportunity they deserve. We strive to create a safe, fair, and progressive work environment that mirrors the dedication and hard work our members pour into their craft every day.
The GPLDC represents a diverse group of laborers who are the backbone of the construction industry in our region. Our members work on a wide array of projects, including but not limited to building construction, roads and bridges, environmental remediation, demolition, and utility work. They are skilled in various crafts, from general construction labor to more specialized trades such as masonry, landscaping, pipeline work, and more.
We take immense pride in our state-of-the-art training facilities, which offer apprenticeship and ongoing education programs. These programs are meticulously designed to meet the evolving needs of the construction industry, ensuring our laborers have the most up-to-date skills and certifications to thrive on the job. Safety is at the core of our training, as we are dedicated to ensuring every laborer works under the safest conditions possible.
The GPLDC is a leading voice for laborers in the political arena, advocating for legislation and policies that protect our members’ livelihoods and further the growth of fair labor standards. Our leadership actively engages with industry partners, government officials, and community leaders to promote investment in infrastructure and job creation across the Great Plains.
Beyond labor representation, the GPLDC is deeply rooted in the community, recognizing that our strength on the job is amplified by our service off the job. Our members are encouraged to engage in community service and charitable initiatives, fostering a spirit of unity and solidarity that transcends the workplace.
As we look to the future, the GPLDC envisions a thriving labor force that propels the Great Plains region toward prosperity. We are committed to nurturing the next generation of laborers, advocating for sustainable and innovative practices in the industry, and strengthening the bond between our members and the communities they serve.
The Great Plains Laborers District Council is more than just a labor organization; it is a family, a movement, a testament to the collective power of workers. We invite all laborers who share our vision of dignity, safety, and solidarity to join us. Together, we build more than just buildings and roads – we build the foundation for a better and more equitable future for all.
